The Old Man's head measures 40 feet from chin to forehead and is made up of five ledges. Noting that New Hampshire was named by Captain John Mason after the southern English county of Hampshire. The record for the highest wind speed of 231 mph over land in the United States was recorded on Mount Washington April 12, 1934.
